Tomie & McConaughey Set For 'Lincoln Lawyer'

Marisa Tomie is set to star opposite Matthew McConaughey in the Michael Connelly (an author my dad has read the shit out of) novel, The Lincoln Lawyer.

At first this was set to be directed by none other than Tommy Lee Jones as he would co star also. Sweet. But then he left over 'creative differences'. I.E. he wasn't thrilled with the script. Good enough reason for me.

The legal thriller centers on low-level criminal defense attorney Mickey Haller (McConaughey) who finds himself representing a wealthy client with ties to a previous murder case Haller handled. Tomie's character is his ex-wife, prosecuting attorney Maggie McPherson.

I've always said, that if McConaughey spent as much time maneging his acting career and trying to break ground, as he does looking "sexy" and wooing chicks in his very plentiful romantic comedies and magazine covers, he'd be ballin' son! But I guess, theirs' gotta be the brainless square-jaw cliche' in Hollywood though.

Tomie on the other hand, has carved herself out a nice spot in Tinseltown's history books with her roles and performances. I love following her stuff, watching her do her thing, scoop awards and noms and enjoy the lines just dripping out of her mouth. This woman, is the reason I'm seeing this. Of course, we have director yet, so we'll have to see who steps in. But, with these names attached to star, we should see someone of prestige, no?

Keeping you posted on this.

Smith And Jones Set For Men In Black 3

You don't need a reason to resurrect anything in Hollywood, at least if it was a film and then sequel that raked in all kinds of cash. So why not apply that principle and get MIB 3 off the ground? Eh, I don't care much, LVOED the first one. But was very disappointed by everything in the sequel besides Lara Flynn Boyle trampsing around and pulling off and suedo interesting villainess.

Reports now have it via Showbiz 411 that Smith and Jones are locked down with Barry Sonnenfeld to get into the third installment of the MIB franchise. In 3D of course. FEIGN SURPRISE! (Thank you Liz Lemon). This news is rather interesting, considering that Jones was reportedly passing on this. But maybe he considering the financial repercussions of staring in another one of these gaudy monstrosities.

Josh Brolin, Sacha Baron Cohen and Jemain Clement have all been attached to a point in #3 as the older news would have it, but who knows who--or what is more appropriate maybe--they'd be playing, if their even still interested. But that'd get me a little more excited. I loved, loved, loved the first one. Saw it in theaters with my dad, and went out and bought a whole bunch of shit and dressed up, read books about it, watched the VHS (--a 90's kid dead giveaway) a million times and made a bazillion neuralizers out of tin foil. So if he brings it back to the sorta,  less is more, not so in your face style, of the first one, I'm game.

I'll say this, I bet Sonnenfeld is thanking the Movie Gods for this opportunity to get back into the director's chair. Mostly producing as of late, let's see if he can shake off the cobwebs and get back in the sadle with something worthy of a second life in sequel-town.

I'll keep you tree readers posted on new news of this gestating project.
