Elysium Trailer Drops

At long last, after a Comic Con footage display, a poster and a special screening yesterday, we finally have the first look at Neil Blomkamp's Elysium. I can't help feeling like I'm part of the population living on earth, drowning in wait and agony while the film-affiliated live above on Elysium get the spoils and specials of this earlier than us.

If you read my stuff, climb this tree, or just know me in general, you'll know how much I championed his District 9. So you can only imagine as a fan of this burgeoning filmmaker how excited I'm finding myself about this one. With Damon staring as Max, a lowly earth-dweller who finds himself in dire need of medical treatment that can only be found on the sky-parked station, Elysium.

Halo Reach "Reaches" (Pun Intended) 200 Milly First day of Sales/Microsoft Still In the Business Of Making The Movie

The Halo Franchise is one that certainly keeps the heads on the pillows of Microsoft big-wigs at night. Sleeping tenderly. First day of sales--200 milly son. Which, if you think about, isn't that impressive considering that the standard version of the game is $60 and the deluxe version is a buck fifty ($150). They also have a nice little break down of how the ticket sales to video figures out-weigh by ten fold. Read it, it's cool. In total revenue for the out-of-this-world gaming series (yes, another pun), the games have sold over 34 million copies worldwide. To date all Halo merchandise has grossed more than $1.7 billion.

Joie' De Vivre On Celliloid: District 9

Sharlto Copley plays the South African with no real street smarts and a smokin' wife, Wikus van der Merwe. He gives us a real character with thoughts, feelings, functions, and a working brain. A brain that reasons and eventually steers him away from earlier, poorer, and less kind and understanding thoughts and default answers to his situations. Or maybe it's because he has no choice but to pair up with an alien buddy and take the control back in his life?
