A Review: Signs

"I think God did it. . ."
Every year for the past six, on the 23rd of August I watch this film. I chose this particular day because it is the day of birth for a very dear old friend of mine. She and I no longer speak, but that has only been a recent thing. Secretly, to honor her and our friendship, years ago I began watching this in a commemorative fashion of her, first time meeting each other, first hug, first laugh, everything since then, all the great years spent. Silly to you maybe, but call me a nostalgic old soul.

The years have gone by and still I dive into this film. Enjoying the saturation in the thrill, the wonder, the drama, and the dread each and every time.

A Preview: The Last Airbender

M. Night Shyamalan. He's inventive. He's successful. He's even proved that one bad film doesn't mean you can't make a few more of 'em. But now, after whatever reason people in chairs think that his films are worth it, he's doing it again. But this time it's different. Let me explain. Shyamalan came across Avatar when his daughter wanted to be Katara for Halloween. Intrigued, Shyamalan researched and watched the series with his family. "Watching Avatar has become a family event in my house ... so we are looking forward to how the story develops in season three," said Shyamalan.

You can see from the teaser and Super Bowl TV spot that he put a lot of his and his family's love into the film.

The Teaser.

The Super Bowl Spot.

It's obvious he was trying to make his family proud every day by pouring in all his enthusiasm and inspiration. I have no doubt he will succeed with no silly twists to come in an take away all the credibility from the film this time around. How wonderful Nickelodeon must have felt to hear M. Night wanted to turn the cartoon and three picture deal. From what I see here, he's trying to Batman Begins this shit up and looks like he might succeed and bring home his only critical acclaim since '02's Signs. Which was absolutely terrific and you'd know that if you follow my stuff.

Here here! I'm completely excited about the film.  This coming at you July 1st.

Munki Out.

Review: What The F*$! Really "Happened" Here Son?

Let's think about this for a second.

Besides the fact that Mark Wahlberg must have had a clause in his contract that every 10 shots must be a close-up of his face doing this... (Please see ridiculous picture of his classic face to your left) I eventually found myself tittering like a damn ninny over the fact that the movie reaches a point where he's afraid to go outside, and cries, because... the grass, trees and bushes might kill him.

A Review: This Villiage Is An Underated, Misunderstod Place To Live

Yesterday a friend of mine told me how disappointing he thought that The Village was and how bad it was and blah blah blah, he pissed all over this thing. But I myself had only watched it the one time I dragged my mother to see it when it came out in theaters. So I decided to see how I felt after a few more years, a few more hairs on my face, and some more acquired knowledge of film. I just finished watching an copy and these are my sentiments of said film.

I was four years old when my mother bought me my first video tape and I saw the my first live action film (not counting Godzilla movies of course). Needless for me to say, that film was what did for me. You could have stuck a fork in me right then and there. And ever since, I've been following and pouring my heart, soul, and brain into film. So I say to you, with eighteen years of film scrutinizing, The Village is an extraordinary piece of film making and a true experience. All you need to obtain this outlook I have captured is to sit back, open your mind, and un guard your heart.
