Halo Reach "Reaches" (Pun Intended) 200 Milly First day of Sales/Microsoft Still In the Business Of Making The Movie

The Halo Franchise is one that certainly keeps the heads on the pillows of Microsoft big-wigs at night. Sleeping tenderly. First day of sales--200 milly son. Which, if you think about, isn't that impressive considering that the standard version of the game is $60 and the deluxe version is a buck fifty ($150). This report comes via the pimps over at /Film.

They also have a nice little break down of how the ticket sales to video figures out-weigh by ten fold. Read it, it's cool. In total revenue for the out-of-this-world gaming series (yes, another pun), the games have sold over 34 million copies worldwide. To date all Halo merchandise has grossed more than $1.7 billion.

Woooooo boooooyyyyeeeee! Crapped maself. (Diapers)

First Clip Released For 'Passion Play'

A Passion Play is a play about the death and final hours of Christ, I've seen my sister do one for our church when we were kids. She was the Virgin Mary.

It just so happens this film, is about Megan Fox as a sort of fallen angel/circus freak-show who is in some trouble with a local mobster played by . . . Bill Murray? All the while getting mixed up with Mickey Rourke as down-and-out trumpet player. (Whiz Khalifa voice) Oookkaaaaayyyy!

Hit the jump button for the clip and more about this cool concept of a film.

Saoirse Ronan And James Gandolfini 2/3's of 'Violet & Daisy'

Violet & Daisy is a teenage hit girls movie about, well, a pair of teenage hit girls. Via /Film Writer and recent Oscar winner for his adp. screenplay for Precious, Geoffrey Fletcher, has penned the script and will step into the shoes of a first time director as well.

Gandolfini and Ronan are the only two confirmed for the project, with two rumored actresses taking the part of the other teenage killer.

Two Confirmed For Mission Impossible 4

Things are certainly moving for producers Tom and JJ Abrams on the next installment of the Mission Impossible franchise. Via Movieweb and /Film we got the final rounds of casting in place. First we know that Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg are coming back on board.

And I already told you about how they nabbed animation director, legend and TWO TIME OSCAR WINNER Brad Bird. Well, I wasn't too sure it was official when I wrote that story but then it got confirmed soon after and I just forgot to shoot out the update 'cuz shit was poppin' off back then. Anyway, now we've got the last two vital roles that round out the new direction the franchise is headed in. Paula Patton (Precious) and Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker). Both from two Best Pic contenders at the Oscar's earlier this year, with THL taking that cake unfortunately.

But wait! There's more!

'Kick Ass' Creator Mark Miller Wants Johnny Depp And Brad Pitt For His Next -- 'Nemesis'

Mark Miller is the man behind a Scottish quick mouth, the comic book series/movie Kick Ass, Wanted and many other titles in the comic book world as a guest. He's also got Nemesis up his sleeve too.

Nemesis is pretty much being toted as: what if Bruce Wayne became the Joker instead of Batman? I like that a whole lot. And now, via /Film and Filmonic, he's spilling beans saying Tony Scott, who is attached to direct, is gonna try and get him Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp.

Inception's Plot From Scrooge McDuck?

Uncle Scrooge’s The Dream Of A Lifetime! is a two part 26-page comic book published back in May '04. The whole thing is online here for freezo niggas. A /film reader found this out and let them know about it. I hate anything baring any kind of resemblance to my work. I might jump off a bridge if this happened to me, or just laugh about it. Idk, maybe both.

Hmm... Any thoughts on this most uncanny comic book adventure?

College Humor Rips Apart 'Inception' In Minutes

Via /Film from College Humor, the next vid to lampoon a movie off their site is out. But Inception? I guess bashing Nolan's plot clarity all started with The Dark Knight, when people claimed to see plot holes in the script, people like this guy were pretty fed up with TDK being hailed for a best pic nom. (BTW, Texas first semester I found that script with a few buddies and we all laughed til we peed the entire time we read the thing) Despite how amazing the film was and how much shit entered their pants during their wonderful theater experience, people were sour?

Well, we come full circle to Nolan again now with his follow up and ten-year-old script, Inception. Idk, yeah it's sort funny, but are we to believe these guys have actually ripped out the entire foundation of the film from one plot point to the next? I'm not exactly here to say, but they try very hard to sway you from thinking this film has any artistic merit at all. That's a shame.

BTW, this is chalk-full of spoilers.

Yeah... Whatev. Made their points.

Dicaprio Spills (A Few) Details On J Edgar Hoover Biopic

Give it up to Slashfilm for givin' me the scoop. If you read this silly attempt aty being a pro film news reporter/critic/analyst, you'd know that i reported a while back about Dicaprio and Eastwood getting together for a J Edgar Hoover biopic. Oscar winner Dustin Lance Black of Milk fame is writing the script and Warner Bros. is behind the whole thing, Eastwood's home away from home really.

Well, at a press conference for the upcoming summer saver, Inception, Leo was asked about the details for the collab between him, Dustin Lawrence Black and Eastwood on the Hoover biopic. He confirmed he's in talks to star saying this:
"Yeah, I’m talking to Clint Eastwood about playing J. Edgar Hoover, who had his hand in some of the most scandelous events in American history — everything from the Vietnam war to [John] Dillinger to Martin Luther King and JFK. It’s about the secret life of J Edgar Hoover.”
Then some one asked him about the dress, because supposedly Hoover was a cross dresser. A reference to a claim made in Hoover’s 1993 biography Official and Confidential: The Secret Life of J Edgar Hoover, which quoted a witness, Susan Rosenstiel, (who later served time at Rikers Island for perjuring herself in a 1971 case) who claimed to have seen Hoover engaging in cross-dressing in the 1950s at homosexual orgies.
"Not as of yet. We haven’t done the fittings for those… so I don’t think so.”
Let's see if they explore that area of his life. This all sounds pretty good though. I'm excited to see what comes of this project. I'll be keeping you posted.

Michael Fassbender To Choose Between Two Comic Books

Michael Fassbender struck me in 300, where he played the dude, laughing under the falling arrows. There were a few little things he did, when holding himself on screen, that really shouted out, "I'm ready to work son! See how seriously I take my roles?" So I like seeing him when I run into him. Good thing for Michael, that Simon Pegg had Star Trek to deal with, which is how he landed Lt. Archie Hicox in Inglourious Basterds. He's in Eden Lake, a good horror film, and Fish Tank, a family drama/coming-of-age story. Both are British films, which is a plus, cause (at least for me) that stuff is hard to find in good form.

Anyway, he's been taped to play Magneto in the upcoming X-Men installment, X-Men: First Class, helmed by Matt Vaughn of Kick Ass fame. First Class is exactly what it sounds like, the beginning of the X-Men, and how Magneto and Pro. X became enemies.

James McAvory has already been cast as a younger Professor X and word around the bend is, VIA /Film that Fassbender is up for Magneto. They have already begun location scouting in Michigan, going for a "1960’s, South-American or Central American island feel".

That all sounds awesome, but Michael's got a problem. He's also been offered a role as the main bad-ass in the upcoming Spider-Man Reboot. No word on who it is, for sure. But Bleeding Cool is reporting to the inter-web, that The Lizard is the next guy in line for film treatment from the Spider-Man villians gallery. It seems that it would make s whole lot of sense, they had him primed and ready for take off, with two films with app. by Dr. Curt Conners. Sucks Rami never got off the ground with that. Although, I'd like to see the next set-up with Conners in more than one film before his transformation, I'll take the lizard straight-up if they feel they're gonna do it like that.

What say you tree-readin' suckas? Good? Bad? magneto? The Lizard? Fassbender? Chicken or Steak? (Sorry dinner plans)

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Offered Female Lead In TF3

That's right kids! Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has been offered the new love interest in Loud Noises 3: A Michael Bay Film. If you've been following the blog, or the story, you'll remember about the little piece I wrote concerning the initial news outbreak, Fox was no longer in the franchise.

Aronofsky Directing Wife Weisz In 'Jackie' Onassis Biopic

Recently this project simply titled Jackie, has been getting the pre-work done on it to become an HBO special movie, with none other than Steve Spielberg behind it all, ushering it in and producing from a script by Noah Oppenheim based on the life of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. But now it would seem, Steve isn't involved and HBO is not the medium they want to release this thing on.

/Film is reporting that Darren Aronofsky (Requiem For A Dream, The Wrestler, Hopefully the Robocop Remake) is planning on directing and produce for his company Protozoa Pictures

And better yet, he's also using his lovely, wonderful, beautiful, talented, precise and Academy Award winning wife as the first lady.

The screenplay centers on the Jackie O’ perspective on the four days immediately after the assassination and before the burial of her husband, President John F. Kennedy. Entertainment Weekly says that the story shows “the beloved Kennedy at both her most vulnerable and her most graceful.”

If the world was perfect, Aronofsky, would use the peril and anguish and media scrutiny "choking the first lady out" in the form of his Requiem devices and the solitude and dreariness and heart-tugging sympathy in the ways of Wrestler. But we'll see what he does, he loves his wife very much, you can tell that much from watching The Fountain. But either way, these two always give you something you didn't know and you wanted and everything you did. So I'm excited about the film, and this is my official pick for any major Oscars. These two don't fuck up, ever, so it should be interesting to see them, hopefully, stomp out competition. I'll be backing it.

Anymore news on this ofd course I'll be reporting it.
