Elysium Trailer Drops

At long last, after a Comic Con footage display, a poster and a special screening yesterday, we finally have the first look at Neil Blomkamp's Elysium. I can't help feeling like I'm part of the population living on earth, drowning in wait and agony while the film-affiliated live above on Elysium get the spoils and specials of this earlier than us.

If you read my stuff, climb this tree, or just know me in general, you'll know how much I championed his District 9. So you can only imagine as a fan of this burgeoning filmmaker how excited I'm finding myself about this one. With Damon staring as Max, a lowly earth-dweller who finds himself in dire need of medical treatment that can only be found on the sky-parked station, Elysium.

A Review: Predators

There wasn't many people in the theater tonight, although, I caught the last showing at 10:35. Good, more fun for me. And believe me. I. Had. A. Lot. Of. Fun. Son. More than I thought I would.

This is every bit as cool as the trailer looks. Even though the trailer made us think we get what Ebert said the film missed, "Quiet suspense". I agree, while at times, things got quiet and good conversation was quickly exchanged, Antal never kept that going with the scenes of violence and terror. But either way, I shit you not. If you trust this munki even a little bit--this is a very credible sequel to the '87 original. Balee-dat!

A Preview: Predators

Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Once Upon a Time In Mexico), is the man responsible for this franchise (Predator, Predator 2) being brought back to the celluloid with some skill, precision, patience and good-old-fashioned serious film making.
