Elysium Trailer Drops

At long last, after a Comic Con footage display, a poster and a special screening yesterday, we finally have the first look at Neil Blomkamp's Elysium. I can't help feeling like I'm part of the population living on earth, drowning in wait and agony while the film-affiliated live above on Elysium get the spoils and specials of this earlier than us.

If you read my stuff, climb this tree, or just know me in general, you'll know how much I championed his District 9. So you can only imagine as a fan of this burgeoning filmmaker how excited I'm finding myself about this one. With Damon staring as Max, a lowly earth-dweller who finds himself in dire need of medical treatment that can only be found on the sky-parked station, Elysium.

The Adjustment Bureau Trailer Dropped Today

The first trailer for the Damon/Blunt staring film,  and George Nolfi directorial debut, The Adjustment Bureau, is here tree-readin' fools.

The story follows a man who glimpses the future Fate has planned for him and realizes he wants something else. To get it, he must pursue the only woman he's ever loved across, under and through the streets of modern-day New York. On the brink of winning a seat in the U.S. Senate, ambitious politician David Norris (Damon) meets beautiful contemporary ballet dancer Elise Sellas (Emily Blunt)--a woman like none he's ever known. But just as he realizes he's falling for her, mysterious men conspire to keep the two apart.

If you read my stuff, you'd know I have a penchant for Blunt, 'cuz... oh man, too many reasons. She's invigoratingly sexy, and real good in front of the camera too. Nolfi, who is primarily a writer, has written the wonderful, intricate, quick-witted and funny (and slightly pretentious and self-absorbed) Ocean's Twelve. He also penned The Sentinel, and co-wrote The Bourne Ultimatum with Tony Gilroy. Gilroy went on from writing to directing too, with the Oscar robbed, Michael Clayton. So let's see if Nolfi can pull off as good a hit. From the trailer, it looks slick, smart, and well crafted. Even though I'm not going for it for a few reasons (sorta get's a little hokey, but that's  Philip K. Dick for ya). Just watch the thing. If Damon isn't running from government men and shouting orders to someone he can save, he just ain't happy son.

The story is loosely based on the Philip K. Dick short story, "Adjustment Team". The cast includes Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker, She Hate Me), John Slattery (Howard Stark, Mad Men), and Terence Stamp (So much shit but, the blind dude in Electra and General Zod from Superman II should suffice).

Well, I'll be following this, even though it comes out, September 17th, it's sure to have one or more egg's dropped in the trades worth reporting.

Now without further adieu, Damon's finest work and the biggest Oscar-Snub ever.

Munki Out.

I've been doing my best to keep you updated about Steven Soderbergh's upcoming film, Contagion. Well, news broke today regarding the specifics in the script.

It's about who's playing who and how things get started wit the deadly little beast. I guess this may count as a spoiler, or you can just wait for the trailer to do that for you too.

A Review: The Green Zone (That's It, No Pun In The Title This Time)

Paul Greengrass is back again, importing his visuals and edits from the his take on the Bourne series, and using it very, if not more effectively here in The Green Zone, starring Matt Damon, Greg Kinnear, Amy Ryan and Brendan Gleeson.

While this film has unintentionally (or maybe not) pissed a hell of a lot of people off, it also accomplishes the feat of showing off something about a spot in our history, that is, unarguably, fact. We lied and made claims about WMD's (an abbreviation heard appr. 6,000 times in this film) in Iraq so we could go over there and pound the shit out them worse than some shady motel experiences I've had in the past. And after that, we fired their army, who had no real love of Saddam in the first place, and left them high dry, pissed, alienated and broke. Way to go America. And that's just the A-B of the film...

True Grit Remake Getting Lensed Next Month, Cones Are Gonna Grab Some Gold Again Son

What's that you say? Bridges, Damon, Brolin, and the Coen bros? All in the same film? It's a remake of the acclaimed western film and John Wayne's Oscar winning performance? Like whoa son...

True Grit, the 1969 original film, is being remade by the Cones (No Country For Old Men, Fargo, A Serious Man) and shooting some time this month in New Mexico.

It seems that the remake I've heard rumblings about for a little while now has taken shape and really taken off.

1 More Added 2 That Movie About Gettin' Mad Sick Yo!

Gwenyth Pal is the latest to step into Steven Soderbergh's globe spanning setting about a virus that breaks out and unites characters across the globe titled, Contagion.

And now it looks like they have not only rounded out they're cast but tipped the ratio and got it to 3:2 on girls and guys. Not that makes a great movie, but these dames can act, as well as look good. So that makes it all the better.

I previously reported the announcement made last week as well as origin details with script as well. The film's cast is coming to you with Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Marion Cotillard cast in the new film, with Soderbergh to direct from a script by Scott Z. Burns (The Informant!). While not much was known about the story, the film was said to center on a worldwide virus outbreak that connects several different characters together.

Still stoked and ready to bring you all the updates I can on this hot shit son!
