A Preview: The American

"You can pay for school, but you can't buy class."
                                                -Jay-Z

Clooney. George Clooney. Perhaps the very definition of cool. Of suave. Of class. 3 Oscar nod's in 4 years, one win. And now he's back, and walking in Anton Corbijn's world in The American. I gotta tell you guys, this dude invokes the golden age, I've said that before, I'll say it now, I'll say it again later. There are few men in Hollywood that can match what he can bring to the table without trying to act. It rolls off his tongue, his fingertips, pumps out his pours.(Actor's crush)

But wait! There's more!

Anyway, if you haven't seen the Ian Curtis biopic/Joy Division film Control by Corbijn, then get outa your chair, and run to Blockbuster before they file for chapter 11. If you don't really appreciate film making and acting in refined forms, then your in for one boring ride. Test yourself class. He's also directed for the likes of Depeche Mode, Johnny Cash, Coldplay, U2 and others.

So, The American, staring George, Violante Placido as the love interest, and Paolo Bonacelli as Father Benedetto. Those actor's are good news, please trust, please. And even if Violante isn't so awesome, she's so very hot, and that's the best kind of consolation prize. No? yes. More good news, this is a Focus Features production/distribution. They have a good track record with stuff like, Burn After Reading, Milk, Traffic, Eternal Sunshine, Brokeback Mountain and many, many others. I was excited when I heard about this, then I found out about the director and studio, then shit and promptly changed my boxer briefs and pants (I loved those pants too). This a new move for Clooney, who hasn't held a gun since 06's The Good German, but I like to think he hasn't really handled one the way we want since 99's Three Kings. Here, he plays a cold-blooded assassin. yes you heard that right, in this film, Clooney = Assassin for the American Government. Si senor? Si. Mucho si. (Sorry, Spanish fly's out all the mouths at my job) This is the plot synopsis, but I advise against it (full of potential spoilers if you want to be as fresh as you can walking in theater beyond knowing he's a spy in Italy). Just watch the trailer to get he best feel of it.
"As an assassin, Jack (played by Clooney) is constantly on the move and always alone. After a job in Sweden ends more harshly than expected for this American abroad, Jack retreats to the Italian countryside. He relishes being away from death for a spell as he holes up in a small medieval town. While there, Jack takes an assignment to construct a weapon for a mysterious contact, Mathilde (Thekla Reuten). Savoring the peaceful quietude he finds in the mountains of Abruzzo, Jack accepts the friendship of local priest Father Benedetto (Paolo Bonacelli) and pursues a torrid liaison with a beautiful woman, Clara (Violante Placido). Jack and Clara’s time together evolves into a romance, one seemingly free of danger. But by stepping out of the shadows, Jack may be tempting fate."

 Now, without further adieu...

Did you just pee too?! I did but it's cool cuz we all know (if you read this blog) I wear diapers all the time because of things like this. And the best part is this comes out tonight at midnight sucka fuckas! Go spend the obscene fortune it costs now to watch movies in theaters and treat yourself to a cinematic experience you won't be regretting. This is my vow to you. 'Course, I haven't seen this yet, so I can't makes guarantees. But. . . Come one dude. C'mon. . .

 Munki very excitedly out.
P.S. I don't really wear diapers.
